Infinity built the latest Kappa speakers with improved technology and high-end materials to provide you with outstanding sound reproduction. The low-impedance design makes these speakers very efficient, so you'll get great results powering them with a factory or aftermarket stereo. The Kappa 42.9i 4" speakers feature light, but stiff woven glass-fiber woofer cones that won't flex or distort. The Plus One design offers a larger surface area for improved low-frequency output and efficiency, while longer voice coils produce tighter, snappier midbass. Large magnets keep the woofers running cooler by placing more steel close to the voice coils to act as a heat sink. Infinity uses the same Metal Matrix Diaphragm tweeter found in many of their popular home speakers, so you'll hear the music the way it was recorded with minimal coloration or distortion. The computer-optimized outboard crossover networks employ audiophile-grade components to separate highs and lows, so that the woofer and tweet

Outstanding speakers.
My experience with these speakers as well as all Infinity products has been extraordinary. Th performance when combined with high end head units and amps is outstanding for the price. These were installed in the rear of a BMW Z3 to compliment a set of Infinity Kappa 50.9 cs components. They were driven by a 75 watt rms per channel amp using a Kenwood Excelon head unit. The improvement of the musical experience in a difficult environment exceeded my expectations.

not 4 inch speaker
I ordered this speaker to replace 4 inch speakers in the rear of my m3 vert. They are a little smaller than 4 inch. And they are too deep for my car. 1 7/8 inch depth. Needed only 1 1/4 inch maximum. Oh well, returned them, but had to pay 14.51 for return shipping because the seller would only send me a return label if they were defective. Remember that if you need to return something. Also, there is something in these speakers that are considered hazardous, so normal return options are different.

not as advertised, size wise
i needed 4" speakers.these are not 4" at all, not even measured to the outside of motor/frame. i took out 4" stock speakers and measured the cones and they are 4" and they cover the hole perfectly. these however do not come close to covering the hole at all and leave about 3/8" opening all around the motor/frame. only thing holding/suspending them into place is 2 of the 4 finger mounts. they sound awful because the cone is much smaller than what a standard 4" cone is, so the tones are like very high and very high mids. the bass simply splashes the speakers into next year and is a joke at best to try to get any bass from them what so ever.sounds like a remote bad tweeter in my back seat.i should ask for a refund...

wanting more
The crossover is too big, the tweeter feel off (glued on), and for the price, wanting a little more. I love Kappas, but was a bit dissapointed with this speaker. Clean sound, okay if powered off of head unit, better if powered by an external amp.

infinity kappa is great for voice range
I installed these in the rear deck on my BMW e90 since it can only fit 4 inch speakers without modification. They sound great along with my kenwood excelon 10' subwoofer, giving it a great sound combination.
