SOWING INDOORS - Sow aster on the surface of damp compost in trays, pots or modules. Cover the with a light sprinkle of fine compost or vermiculite.

Place in a propagator or cover with a clear polythene bag and seal. Aster's do not require high temperatures to germinate. See suggested temperature on the packet.

Once germination starts, remove the container from the propagator or plastic bag and place in a well lit area. Keep away from frost and protect from hot sun at this point. When the aster seedlings are large enough to handle, prick out into 7 - 10 cm pots and grow on in frost free conditions.
