it's actually a better vlog camera or cheap gopro sub than a timelapse ...
I originally got this as a timelapse camera, it's actually a better vlog camera or cheap gopro sub than a timelapse camera. It was recommended be DigitalRev as a good throw away camera. That said Pros: Size, Battery, quality for size. Unfortunately Cons: Mic is ok but picks up a lot of ambient noise and doesn't have an option for external mic, The software is horrible, and the clip is barely adequate for holding the camera in place. Now the BIG CON, about half the time the camera doesn't fully boot, when this happens I have to turn the camera off and on until it does boot all the way to connect mode.

Crippled by lousey software
I was really excited for this product. I've been waiting a long time for the Narrative Clip 2 to be released, but I finally gave up on the wait. This looked to have much better specs than the Narrative Clip and a bit a bit cheaper to boot. I was really excited to see it used a Sony sensor, as Sony makes some of the best sensors out there. However, when it comes to actually using it, it has been bit of a let down.I've only had it a day, so perhaps I need to give it more time, but here is my initial review:Construction: Feels a bit cheap. It uses rather flimsy plastic panels that flex and aren't sealed well. The clip on the back is metal which is nice, but the hinge is pretty weak. It wouldn't take much more than a mild bump to knock this off. Also, it feels a little large for a clip on camera. 30% slimmer and smaller would seem about right. It's well over twice as thick as smart phones these days.Image Quality: For video, It's ok. It's excessively contrasty. Wish it had a flatter profile. You can always increase the contrast, but you can't decrease it. Photo quality is ok in good light, poor in anything else. Images have excessive noise luminance noise reduction, and not enough color noise reduction. I would prefer a grainy photo over a smudgy plasticky photo. Unfortunately, I think that sony sensor is marred by the software processing it. Overall it's not great, but I could live with it for my needs.Functionality and Software: This is where it's a deal breaker for me. Set up was a pain. Nothing worked at first. Pictures and video wouldn't save. Couldn't connect bluetooth initially. I still can't connect it wifi, which mean I can't update firmware. After restarting it a couple times, I finally got the bluetooth to work and access to built in memory. Once I got it working, all you can do manually is press a button to record video or take a picture, so if you want to do anything else you have to adjust via bluetooth with your smart phone. The bluetooth live feed is really laggy. Time lapse and slow motion requires you to be connected to bluetooth, so you can't set and it leave it. You have to drain your phone battery and if you go more than 50 feet you loose signal and it stops the time lapse. Furthermore, I set a time lapse, in range, took a nap, and woke up to find that it crashed and never even saved the time lapse. Also, if you are hoping to do lifelogging or photo time lapse (which is what I bought it for in the first place), well, you can't. Because it's not an option. I know it isn't exactly advertised as a lifelogger, but it would seem to be an obvious inclusion given that it's a clip on camera and a clear knock off of the Narrative Clip.Overall: Overall, I don't really see the point of this camera. You need to be connected to a smart phone to use most of it's functions, in which case you might as well use a smart phone which will give you better image quality and less of a headache. The only use I see for this is if you really really need a clip on camera to take walk around video. If you do, plan on it being shaky as heck.

and the battery life is pretty long. The clip is nice and strong
The angle is incredibly wide; the picture is clear, and the battery life is pretty long. The clip is nice and strong. The buttons on the device itself aren't always super responsive. It does run hot. And the interaction with the phone app doesn't work very well.

Not Worth the Price, Advertising False Features
I returned this item because it clearly states that you can use it for streaming live, however this is not the case. The website calls it "broadcasting," same as streaming, and it cannot do this. That is the main reason I purchased it, otherwise its just an expensive extension to your phone. Not worth the price at this point.

Qlippie not ready for prime time
In brief: live mode only works in China. Auto shutter does not work yet, will be available in Q2 according to customer service . I wanted a substitute to the Narrative but this is not it. Also, it came without charging cable. (uses a mini usb).
