We were using the SanDisk Extreme 64 GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive, and we were completely thrilled with its performance. We were using it as a portable yet key storage device for critical files for our firm. It was such a fast drive that it felt like an internal SSD. In fact, if you read reviews about Sandisk, it was designed with SSD controllers inside of it. It definitely has enormous bang for the buck.However, the thin & hollow plastic housing, and how it sticks out quick a bit, made us crack and splinter the plastic when we bumped into something while walking around with our notebook. Yes, the blame most definitely falls on us. We won't blame Sandisk for our mishap.We were very compelled to purchase the Sandisk Extreme again because we loved the performance so much. However, we decided to shop around for more durable, sturdier alternatives and similar but most likely slower performance. If it performs "good enough", we were fine. We weren't looking for 100% guaranteed "indestructable" and "military-spec" offerings, because we realize that such products would probably be either very expensive or inconvenient in some other aspect.During our online research, we were trying to find a micro-sized and fast 64GB USB 3.0 drive with similar performance to the Sandisk Extreme but came up empty (as of 8/15/2013). Eventually, we came across the Lexar Jumpdrive P10 64GB USB 3.0. This drive can cost 2x as much as the Sandisk Extreme 64GB USB 3.0. The tested max real-life sustained write speed and other performance measurements were definitely slower than the Sandisk, but frankly, the figures seemed sufficient for our usage patterns.Now that we've used it for about a month, we can report that the drive has a much weightier, more substantial feel in our hands than the Sandisk Extreme. We also like how there's a color contrast between the glossy black top, and the side and bottom matte silver, so that it's a better visual cue that of its presence, stuck in a USB port (if you stick it into a port that keeps the drive in your field of view) instead of the nearly completely black Sandisk Extreme. Regarding performance: using it day in & out, the drive feels almost as quick as the Sandisk Extreme to us. We do sense it's ever so *slightly* slower than the Sandisk Extreme, but not enough to be irritated by it. Another issue we've seen with plenty of sub-par USB drives we've used over time is that we'd encounter issues properly USB ejecting the drives in Windows. We've been able to properly USB eject the Lexar drive from Windows 7 / 8 without encountering any hangups, hiccups, or "drive in use" message (when it clearly isn't). So far, so good.When used, the drive still sticks out enough to bend the slide-out connector piece from the housing if it hits a passing person or a wall, but we hope that with the sturdier build and the visual cues it'll reduce the occurrence of such an accident.Lexar has another 64GB USB3.0 jump drive which also seemed to perform nicely, albeit slightly slower than the P10 (if memory serves me right), but it was only $10 cheaper at our time of purchase. At this price range, we didn't mind spending the extra $10 to buy the drive that a number of online USB3.0 64GB drive comparisons pointed out as coming in very close to the Sandisk Extreme.Highly recommended, until further updates.

I have used this flash drive on 3 different laptops - all high-end laptops and fairly new. I cannot even come close to getting the advertised write speeds that Lexar claims. I emailed their support group which asked some very basic questions and then told me to return the product. $20 later, I get the replacement and the same results. The latest information I have from Lexar is to contact Microsoft to get the latest USB drivers. Can you believe that? I have Windows 8.1 Pro on the laptop which I just installed. Don't waste your money on this product. Lexar support can't even tell me why I'm seeing 75MB/s write speeds. I asked for information on what components in my laptop could be limited the speed and I get nothing from them.

I had been using an old, SanDisk 8GB USB 2.0 thumb drive for a few years now, and wanted to upgrade to something with more storage capacity and faster transfer speeds. So, I purchased the Lexar JumpDrive P10 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive and haven't looked back since. I looked around the web for some recommendations and the JumpDrive P10 has been getting good reviews by the tech industry, and is being labeled the fastest thumb drive on the market.The 64GB of storage is great for me, as I work with large media files. It's more than I'll ever need for the years to come. The transfer speeds on this thing are blazingly fast. Faster than any other thumb drive I've owned. Lexar claims on their product's site that the P10's transfer speeds are 256 MB/s read and 245 Mb/s write, roughly 24x faster than a USB 2.0 thumb drive. I definitely noticed this bump up in speed when working with large file sizes. Transferring a 6GB file only took ~2-3 minutes, tops. Smaller files >1GB only take a minute or less.The design of this thing looks great. Metal alloy on the back, and polished black plastic on the front gives it a nice, sleek look and feel. However, the thumb slider on the front, that extends and retracts the USB connector, is a bit difficult to use. It feels like it's too tight in the sliding mechanism and you have to press your thumb down on the slider with some considerable force as you slide it up. I noticed if the drive has been warmed up from being in my pocket for while, the slider works a bit better, but it still feels like there is too much friction in the sliding mechanism. Hopefully, Lexar can address this in their next iteration.Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. This is a great little thumb drive that packs a lot of storage and some really great transfer speeds.So, to sum things up:Pros:- Plenty of storage. Great for large media files!- It's fast! One of the fastest USB 3.0 thumb drives on the market.- Sleek design. Metal and glossy black plastic. Feels good.Cons:- Pricey, but worth it if you work with large files and need faster speeds.- Thumb slider mechanism not designed well. Too much friction. A little hard to slide connector in and out.Hope this helps with your purchase!

Loved the speed but ... DO NOT REFORMAT it. I wanted to use it for lots of videos so I reformatted it. It came with Fat32 formatting and I changed it to ExFat to overcome the 4gb file size limit. The P10 struggled, coughed, slowed way down and became unusable for any video. Most miserable experience. Changed it back to Fat32 and now it wizzezz but has that 4 gb limitation. Buyer be advised.

The device failed after 33 days of use. I contacted Lexar and they said they would replace it. That has been over a month ago now. No replacement drive. I did like it while it lasted, but just not worth the failure rate.

Mostly follows the expected speeds. Gets a little warm to the touch when in use. Does what it's supposed to. But don't use it as a mass storage device for long term storage (or keep it connected for longer).
